ALLERGIC REACTIONS
Posted By Clod on December 21, 2010
Allergic reactions, for example to food, bee stings or other irritants, can be sudden and must be treated immediately to prevent serious consequences. Therefore, many people who know their specific allergies carry medication with them as an antidote to an allergic reaction. Epinephrine is the most common drug used, and is often administered through an automatic injection device.
To dispense the medication when an allergic reaction begins, remove the cap and push the tip of the device firmly against the outer thigh. This action will dispense a dose of medication to help relieve the allergic reaction. The effects of the medication are only temporary, however, and you must seek further medical attention immediately. When you do, be sure to tell the health professional treating you that you have given yourself an injection of the medication.
