I had barely discovered I was pregnant when the catalog companies found me. Every day the mail brought three or four catalogs that seemed to imply that I’d be a negligent mom if I didn’t buy my baby a diaper wipe warmer, an electric bottle shaker, and “hard-to-find” knitted sheets.
